When I’m not sure what to do next, I take my painting into Photoshop. This allows me to play and experiment in a much more efficient way. My challenge with these new pieces is how to keep the deconstructed minimal feel, whilst getting my signature vibrancy, movement and energy into the work... My Cloud9 collection of original A3 drawings are now available as part of @conclavebrighton latest exhibition “13: Lucky For Some”. There is some excellent local Brighton talent in this group show. I’m trying to remind myself what productive looks like, as I’ve lost my mojo this week. So here’s some progress shots of the @Upfest mural collab that @mazcanarts and I painted a few weeks back. . This week has been the complete opposite of productive. So far I’ve spent HOURS repeatedly re-painting the same hand and getting it wrong every time . 🤦🏻‍♀️ I then chipped the frame on my painting just before it was due to be collected by my client, so now need to get it reframed. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤬🤦🏻‍♀️ And... well that’s it so far, let’s hope this weeks fails don’t come in threes! 🤞🏼 . After all the excitement of Upfest, and painting on a 8mx4m wall, It’s time to scale back down, pick up the paintbrushes and get back to work on my canvases. I love changing scale and mediums, it keeps things fresh and forces me to reassess my technique each time, it does hurt my brain a bit though.🧐🙃🥴🤯. . . And just to make things extra hard, I’m now back in my very teeny tiny home studio, so I will be mostly tripping over things and swearing a lot 😂. Big love and thanks to the tireless @upfest crew, for hosting us in Bristol over the last few days for the 75 walls/75days project. This piece is a Celebration of Sisterhood and is the first official collaboration between myself and the mighty @mazcanarts. Needless to say we had a blast!!!! I’m so stoked with the images and they will be an amazing reminder of this transformative time. I can’t wait to share them with you. It’s a game of patience this painting lark. Slowly taking your own unique steps and trusting the process. And most importantly not freaking out when something doesn’t look right straight away... You can plan a painting to a point, but once you embark on the journey of putting paint on canvas, you always end up some where unexpected. This is where the magic happens.💥 . .
